About me
Laurien Stewart is a writer of Literary Fiction and the author of An Elegant Capacity, a wry campus novel exploring art, tennis, and the existential dread/desperation of being known. She is a member of Pikes Peak Writers in Colorado Springs and she holds a bachelor’s degree in Writing and Rhetoric, as well as a master’s in Technical and Professional Communication. Originally from Michigan, Laurien fled the lakes for the mountains, where she quickly became entrenched in the Colorado lifestyle—a vibrant and rocky atmosphere she brings to her writing. Her first novel, An Elegant Capacity, takes place in Colorado Springs, where craft beer, sunshine, and views inspire at every turn. Laurien’s personal experiences with loss, relocation, sexual identity, and the search for actualization lend her writing a voice of authenticity, as well as a wry sense of humor and a knack for identifying those everyday moments that make us question whether our own experiences are ever truly just our own. In addition to being a novelist, Laurien is an avid hiker, an amateur musician, and an even more amateur poet. Most importantly, she never says no to a fruited sour on a patio or a walk with her neurotic rescue dog, Bandy.
